‘Augmented Reality’ shows the world of Rain Man
Theatre Company ‘De Utrechtse Spelen’ launched early 2012 the very first theatre poster that contains Augmented Reality. Whoever installed the Rain Man application on his smartphone or tablet, scanned a poster, flyer or advert, could see the world of Rain Man come to life. Check out scenes from the play or have your picture taken with members of the cast. Results could immediately be shared with friends using Facebook and Twitter.
Theatre Company ‘De Utrechtse Spelen’ was one of the first to have an online season overview. This Augmented Reality application is a new innovative step in their online marketing strategy.
The application adds an extra, visually interesting layer to the play ‘Rain Man’, an adaptation of the well known movie starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. It also gives the company the possibility to be visible on Twitter and Facebook. Users get a preview of the play and can be part of the cast by having themselves photographed with the stars. Every week the best photo would receive a price.
The application was developed and created in cooperation with In10 Rotterdam, it is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
